What does a healed schizophrenic - Mary Magdalene, a quiet and gentle woman - Mary of Bethany, and a repentative prostitute have in common? They, along with many other women who responded to God’s love, did what they could to express their love, gratitude, and devotion unto their new master! We barely know them for what they did; but we do know, through the Scriptures, that they were faithful to do what they could! As women in a busy and highly productive society, we are either feeling like we don’t get enough done or we need to slow down for the important things. We want to do more or we need to do less; we just want to do one thing well. We never really feel content with our lives or ourselves; we often feel condemned that we aren’t doing what we should. But Jesus said to Mary of Bethany in Mark 14:8, “Why are you bothering her...she did what she could.” Through the lives of twelve women from the Bible, Marilyn Williams brings a message of encouragement and exhortation for today’s woman. By studying the lives of these faithful twelve, women of all ages and stages will be moved to take every opportunity to serve and honor God no matter how big or seemingly insignificant the deed. We are moved not by what these women of the Bible did, but that they did what they could. Using the PREP (Pre-read, Read actively, Examine and Prompt) method of study which Marilyn Williams has developed, She Did What She Could is a Pilot Bible Study that will move today’s woman to seize any and every opportunity to express their love and faith in Jesus. He did all that He could for us; may we be women who will do all that we can for Him. |
